    So, what does your bike need to pass a Texas State Safety Inspection?
  • Liability insurance.
  • Headlight with working High & Low beams.
  • Tail light.
  • Brake light.
  • Horn
  • Rear view mirror.
  • License plate light.
  • Red reflector that's visible from the rear.
  • The tail light lens must be red and emit light that is amber to red in color.
  • The tires must have at least 1/16 inch tread depth.
  • The exhaust system must be in good shape and free from leaks.
  • The bike must be able to stop within a distance of 30 feet from a speed of 20 MPH.
  • The Texas DOT does not require motorcycles to be equipped with turn signals.
  • Motorcycles are not tested for exhaust emissions.
